No. Upload a PDF or Word file (up to 5 MB), or paste the text, and it's split into sections you can edit. You can also build one section by section. Check the imported version against your original: layouts with columns or tables sometimes import out of order.

The core features work and are in daily use, but things will change based on feedback and you may hit rough edges. If something breaks or feels wrong, please report it. It genuinely shapes what gets fixed next.

While the beta is invite-only, yes. Sign up with the email your invite was sent to: the sign-up page checks it before you choose a password. No invite yet? Request one from the sign-up page to join the waiting list, and we'll email you as soon as there's space. A friend who already uses RoleScaler can also invite you from their Settings.

The CV RoleScaler uses when you haven't picked one. Your first CV becomes the default; change it from a CV's ⋮ menu → Make default. You can have only one default.

The CV in the job's collection if it has one, otherwise your default CV. You can always switch to another CV in Prepare application or Analyse a job.

Wherever you choose a CV, each one shows its target role, its collection and the date it was last edited, and Change lists them grouped by collection. You can also rename a CV: open it and change the title at the top.

It's designed not to. Suggested edits have to trace back to something already in your CV, and each one is labelled by how well it's supported. Anything that needs proof is marked so, with a question to ask yourself first. Only accept changes you could defend in an interview.

Two places. First, roles read straight from employers' own careers pages, refreshed every few hours and with the whole advert, so they're ready for a match estimate as soon as you save them. Then, underneath, more roles from Adzuna, a job search engine; those carry only a summary, so open the posting and paste the full description into Prepare application.

Yes, three ways. The browser extension adds the job you're reading, from any job site, in one click. Add a job manually on Saved jobs takes a link or the details. Analyse a job checks your match first. Pasted links work with LinkedIn, Reed and most company careers pages; Indeed and Totaljobs block services like ours, so for those use the extension or paste the description. Jobs you add are tagged “Added by you” in your tracker.

It's our estimate of how well your CV reads against one job description, with a confidence level. It's not a pass mark: no recruiter sees it, and applicant tracking systems rank you against the other applicants, not against a fixed score. Use the evidence gaps it lists, not the number.

Answer what it's asking: change the job's status (say, to Applied or Rejected) or set a follow-up date. Not ready yet? Remind me in a week hides it for seven days and changes nothing else about the job. Offers and rejections never show there.

An estimate is worked out when you open Prepare application for that job (or analyse it), using the job's collection CV or your default CV. Until then the card says “No match estimate yet”: click it to get one. Search results only show a quick note when a listing mentions skills from your profile.

Job search lists UK roles for now. Tailoring, match reports and cover letters work with any job description you paste in, wherever the role is based.

Facts are first pulled from your CV and the job description, a letter is written from those facts only, and then every sentence is checked against them. Sentences that can't be supported are rewritten or removed. You'll see the result of the check with the letter.

Only your name, to sign it, taken from your CV, or your profile if the CV has no name. No address or phone number is added.

Open Interview prep on a saved job and choose a CV. You get the questions that job is likely to bring, answers outlined from your own CV, the gaps worth an honest answer, and questions to ask them. Each story quotes the line of your CV it's built on, and any detail your CV doesn't give is left as a highlighted question for you to fill in. Nothing is made up for you to defend: every story is independently fact-checked against your CV and the question it answers before you see it. It takes a minute or two; on a phone you can switch to another app meanwhile, and it will be there when you come back.

Yes. Interview prep in the sidebar gathers every story by the skill it proves, whichever job it was written for.

Only you. Your documents are private to your account. To generate results, the relevant text is sent to our AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) through their APIs; under their API terms it isn't used to train their models.

We don't look at them. Our admin tools are built to show account details (email, sign-up date, plan) and usage counts only, not the content of your CVs, cover letters or notes. If you need help with a document, you can choose to send it to us.

It goes to the recycle bin for 7 days, where you can restore it, and is then deleted for good. Changes to a CV can be undone too: History in the editor keeps its last 30 versions.

Yes. Search for something, press Save search, then turn on the bell next to it. Once a day at most, and only when there's something you haven't seen, we email you the new roles. Every email has a link that stops that alert without signing in, and the bell turns it off too. There's also a weekly summary on Mondays, about your own applications; turn it off in Settings.

Yes: Invite a friend in the sidebar, or in Settings. Share your link, or type their email and we send them one invite. During the beta an emailed invite also lets them sign up, and you have three. We never email them again unless they sign up.

Yes, and you don't have to ask. Settings → Your data → Download my data gives you one file with your profile, CVs, cover letters, saved jobs, notes and match reports in it.

Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything in it.

There are generous hourly limits on the AI features to stop abuse, for example 30 match reports and 20 cover letters an hour. If you reach one, the message tells you when you can go again.
